At Paganel, Science is taught discretely for two hours a week. We recognise and champion that science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and encourage our children to develop a sense of excitement and enquiry about natural phenomena.

Throughout the children’s educational journey at the school, they will develop their scientific knowledge and deepen their understanding in the three core scientific disciplines. The school aims to enrich the children’s experience of science through excursions, exploration of scientific artefacts and celebrations of nationally recognised ‘theme days’ linked to scientific coverage.
The school is fortunate to have its own science laboratory. This is utilised by all children across the school to provide them with enriched opportunities to develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of science. We choose to approach this through exploring scientific concepts and answering ‘big questions’ about the world around them.
To enable children to succeed in the next phase of their education, we endeavour to ensure that all children can explain: what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes. We are passionate all children leaving Paganel Primary School with the scientific knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science – today and for the future.
